YouTube launches audio ads for music and podcast listeners

Anyone who has used YouTube is familiar with the ads that interrupt the viewing of your favorite videos if you are not subscribed to the Premium version. Of course, they can be annoying, especially those that show up midway, but that’s one of the prices we pay for “free” services. Since many people are also using YouTube to stream music or podcasts, Google is now introducing Audio Ads, a new format for advertisers to reach that segment of the market.

In reality, this is the first YouTube ad format that is meant to connect brands with audiences that are “engaged and in-the-mood listening” on the video platform that now also serves as the audio platform. For brands and products that are intended more for an audio performance of their collateral, this is a new way to be able to implement creativity in an audio-based way. They can still enjoy the same benefits as a video campaign.

YouTube is also featuring dynamic music lineups made up of dedicated groups of music-focused channels for those genres that have a specific but popular audience. You will get K-pop, hip-hop, Latin music channels, as well as the top 100. You’ll also get channels for mood and interests so brands can easily reach their target audience and “be there on a grand scale.” for those who watch YouTube or listen to it while doing other activities.

YouTube said its alpha test results showed that more than 75% of the measured ad campaigns resulted in an “increase” in brand awareness. The audio track plays a leading role in the publicity material even though there are still images such as a still image or even a simple animation. Ultimately, to reach your audience who may be using YouTube as their surround sound, you need to be more creative on a listening level.
