You can now book Uber in Hindi on WhatsApp, here’s how

Not comfortable in English? Don’t worry, you can still book an Uber on WhatsApp using the Hindi language. Uber today extended WhatsApp to Ride (WA2R) product functionality for Delhi NCR users. With this new feature, Delhi NCR passengers will be able to book an Uber ride through its official WhatsApp chatbot. Previously, Uber rolled out the ability to book a ride through WhatsApp, but the language was limited to English language only.

Uber tested the feature in Lucknow last year. Uber believes that the inclusion of the Hindi language will provide access to Uber’s mobility services to a new segment of consumers through dual language integration.

Speaking about the addition of Hindi language support, Manikandan Thangarathnam, Senior Director, Mobility and Platforms, Uber, said, “Encouraged by the positive response from our Lucknow driver, we are excited to roll out the experience. WhatsApp to Ride in Delhi NCR. Our engineering team at Bangalore Tech Center worked behind the scenes to build this product and the integration.

“They completed the feature development process in less than three months, in time for Lucknow’s launch. Taking local market needs into consideration, the team also provided Hindi support when booking a ride via WhatsApp. Making the booking process more interactive with the integration of access buttons and actions was one of our top priorities. Future product iterations of WA2R will allow existing users of the Uber app to also book trips via WhatsApp,” he added.

The official Uber chatbot on WhatsApp is powered by Infobip, a global provider of business solutions for Uber and WhatsApp. Users can book an Uber ride in three easy ways; by messaging Uber’s business account number, scanning a QR code, or clicking directly on a link to open an Uber WhatsApp chat.
