The iPhone 14 is coming soon and here’s how it might be different from the iPhone 13

Apple will likely announce its new iPhone 14 series in September next month and the launch is expected to take place on September 13. Although the official launch date has yet to be revealed, we know that the iPhone 14 series event is not too far away. But those who were expecting the new iPhone 14 (standard model) might be disappointed to know that it would be a minor upgrade over the iPhone 13, which many leaks have suggested so far. Here’s how it might be different from the iPhone 13, and the information mentioned below is based on the leaks.

Design, display

The iPhone 14 is said to have a similar design to the iPhone 13 series and only the Pro models are expected to get a major upgrade. So, no, you still don’t get the punch-hole display design here that we’ve seen on most Android phones. You’ll continue to see the wide notch design on the front and the same dual-camera setup design on the rear of the standard model, according to reports. The iPhone 14 is said to have a glass back with aluminum frames, just like last year’s iPhones.

This will likely feature the same 6.1-inch OLED display, but could support a higher refresh rate. The screen could refresh at 90Hz, instead of the 60Hz display seen on the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 will have flat sides, like most iPhones. We expect the new model to have a higher peak brightness for a better outdoor viewing experience. The rest of the details have yet to be revealed.

Chipset, software, battery

Apple’s iPhone 14 smartphone is said to come with the same Bionic A15 chipset that powers the iPhone 13 smartphone. This is something many Android makers are already doing by offering an older chip with the standard version and the newer one with the premium model. But, it is rumored that Apple will offer faster LPDDR5 RAM and the base model could be 6GB of RAM. This should help deliver slightly better performance. The new A16 chip will likely power the iPhone 14 Pro models this year.

There is no doubt that the iPhone 14 series will come with the latest iOS 16 operating system. But old iPhone users need not worry as Apple usually releases the latest operating system for most iPhones. Although there is no information on the battery unit, we expect the new models to offer slightly better battery life than the new ones.

Camera

Just like the iPhone 13, the upcoming iPhone 14 model is also expected to pack a dual camera setup on the back. One of them would be the same main 12-megapixel camera, but this one could have a new ultra-wide-angle camera. Don’t expect to see a dedicated zoom lens as it will likely only be available on the Pro models. The standard version could use the same ultra-wide camera of the iPhone 13 Pro model, which supports autofocus and macro capabilities. The rest of the details are still unknown.
