The OnePlus 9 series is another more intriguing line of phones available on the market today. OnePlus launched smartphones equipped with the Hasselblad imaging system, so the public is curious about the results. Various reviews, teardown videos, and durability testing have already been done, but we know there is still more to explore. However, the launch of the OnePlus 9 isn’t exactly perfect. The OnePlus 9 Pro 8GBRAM with 128GB of storage has lagged behind. There were also reports of overheating issues while the camera app is on. Since then, the problem has been fixed with an OTA update.

Pre-orders for the OnePlus 9 Series sold out quickly on day one. We know that OnePlus will sell a lot of units mainly because of the cameras. But like most flagship phones, features work best with a powerful sensor.

For the OnePlus 9 Pro, it comes with Sony IMX789 and Sony IMX766 sensors. The Hasselblad mobile camera found on the OnePlus 9 Pro is possible with the Sony IMX789 sensor. The sensor was really personalized. It took two years to complete and prepare for a more powerful imaging system.

The Sony IMX789 sensor it measures 1 / 1.35 ″ and comes with 52MP and a Quad Bayer design. It features pixel binning that allows the pixel size to reach up to 2.24 μm. It offers a 16:11 aspect ratio but a 4: 3 ratio when taking a photo. The 16: 9 is for recording 4K 120 FPS videos.

Balancing different aspect ratios isn’t exactly new. The Panasonic Lumix LX100 and Nokia 808 Pureview used the same sensor redundancy design. Other sensor features include a 2 × 2 on-chip lens solution, laser focus, 12-bit RAW output, lower RN (read noise), higher FWC (full-well capacity), 4K 120 FPS recording, and DOL-HDR ( Digital Overlay High Dynamic Range Technology) to capture shorter and longer exposures. The results generally show no artifacts.

Enabled by default is DOL-HDR on the OnePlus 9 Pro. All of this and more works best with software that gets the job done. OnePlus and Hasselblad teamed up to fit the Sony IMX789 sensor. It is primarily focused on color science, thanks to natural color calibration.

Expect more optimizations to be released as part of future OTAs for the OnePlus 9 series. They are intended to improve HDR performance, auto balance, and noise reduction, among others.
