My Watch 2021 Teardown by IFixit reveals what’s inside

Xiaomi Mi Watch 2021 teardown

Xiaomi ventures into different businesses. It is already known as a lifestyle brand for its many smart products and devices. There are many smart phones ready. Recently, the company launched a Mi Watch. Compared to last year’s version, this one now has a round face. It’s a total redesign of the Mi Watch, but like the previous version, IFixit paid attention to the smartwatch and did a teardown analysis. It looks like most of the circular smartwatches we’ve seen, but in some ways it’s better as well as affordable.

The My watch 2021 The model comes with a 1.39-inch circular AMOLED display with a 454 x 454 resolution. It weighs 32g and is only 11.8mm thick. It already offers wireless charging technology.

The smartwatch features a heart rate sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, barometer, and Sp02 (blood oxygen test). Of course, it comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and is water resistant up to 5ATM.

The circular design is different from the Mi Watch launched last year. That one looked a lot like the Apple Watch. Inside, the watch looks basic, albeit similar in some ways to the Samsung Galaxy Watch. It also looks like the Huawei Watch GT2.

According to the I fix it computer, Mi Watch can be easily opened with a Torx T2. The watch is definitely waterproof, but it’s not actually glued on. Inside, you will see that standard Phillips screws are used.

A little more leverage easily removes the battery. The design appears to be slightly modular, so repair or replacement will be easy. The battery used is a 1.62 Wh lithium-ion block that can be charged wirelessly. It can last up to 16 days with standard use. In sports mode, it can last up to 50 hours.

The bottom of the watch is where these parts are placed: MEMS microphone, barometric sensor, vibration motor, and heart rate and SpO2 sensor. More chips are discovered. To remove the screen you would need a heat gun and a razor blade. Unfortunately the screen got damaged a bit.

IFixit gives the Xiaomi Mi Watch 2021 a repairability score of 5/10. Opening the watch is easy as it is mostly glue-free. The connectors are modular, while the battery is accessible for repairs. However, many components cannot be replaced individually. If you remove the screen, you may need to replace the watch case.
