MediaTek MT6893 Geekbench Scores Reveal Performance Improvements

The smartphone chipset market is becoming competitive by the day as Samsung and MediaTek seek to dethrone Qualcomm from long-standing dominance. MediaTek has been working on MT6893 SoC powered by the Cortex-A78 CPU core, and the new Geekbench scores reveal that the 6nm processor is indeed more powerful than Dimensity 1000+, MediaTek’s most powerful chipset currently. In fact, the chipset is comparable to the Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm’s flagship in 2020, followed by the 865 Plus SoC, and by the end of this year it will be dethroned by the Snapdragon 875.

The revelation comes through a confidence forecaster who shared screenshots from Geekbench test as unknown device running SoC MT6893 scored 886 on single core and 2948 on multi core. That can be attributed to the superior Cortex-A78 CPU core (clocked at 3.0 GHz), two Cortex-A78 CPU cores (clocked at 2.78 GHz), and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores (clocked at 2.0 GHz).

These scores are better than the Dimensity 1000+ running on the Xiaomi Redmi K30 Ultra, which has a single-core score of 765 and a multi-core score of 2874. The chipset also comes close to the Snapdragon 865 in the OnePlus 8. with a score of 886 for a single core and 3104 for mufti-core.

MediaTek MT6893 SoC is shaping up to be a powerful chipset, demonstrating the efforts of Taiwanese chipset maker TSMC. It is also accepted that the new processor will bring the LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 standard to phones equipped with the MediaTek chipset at an affordable price.

Although it is coming on par with the Snapdragon 865, but it should be noted that in a moment the new Qualcomm SoC will make it old. Also, the Snapdragon 875 based on a 5nm manufacturing process will be more powerful, so again, catch up with MediaTek.
