LG may be done with making smartphones, but it will continue to sell the remaining stock. Future OS and software updates remain a question for consumers and those still planning to get an LG phone. We already told you that the Android 12 operating system update for LG phones will continue to be available. Now we are learning that premium LG smartphones will get up to three versions of the Android operating system. That is three years from the time you buy the phone.
LG will leave the phone business at the end of July. A recent advertisement has assured owners of LG Wing, LG Velvet, LG V series and LG G series three more updates to the operating system. That’s a guarantee that applies to premium models that were only released from 2019 onwards.
Some phones released in 2020 or later, such as the LG K series and the LG Stylo, will receive two more operating system updates in addition to Android 11. LG also mentioned that it will continue to make phones until the second quarter. This will be done to fulfill contractual obligations with partners and mobile phone operators.
Yes, the public can still buy LG smartphones that are in stock even after going out of business. Security software updates and customer service support will continue to be provided for most mobile devices, but only for a period of time.
LG assures consumers that they will still be ready to offer support. LG’s local hubs and operators are expected to make related announcements in the coming days.
