Indians are spending 83% more time on the OTT platform

Lockdown had the highest number of viewers of the original series, the most time spent watching a movie

Sushant Singh Rajput’s latest film ‘Dil Bechara’ premiered on July 24 on OTT platform Disney Hotstar. According to trade analysts, the film has been viewed by over 75 million people in just three days. This is the second biggest film released on the OTT platform in the Corona era. Earlier, Gulab-Sitabo of Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushman Khurana was also released on the OTT platform.

In the last four months, not only the number of users on OTT platforms has increased but also the user time span. People are spending most of their time watching movies. The number of people watching the upcoming original series on various platforms has also increased.

People are spending 83% more time on OTT platforms in the Corona era
According to a report by Invest India, the time span of users on OTT platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Disney Plus Hotstar has increased by 82.63% during the Corona period. Meanwhile, people in the country have spent more than 20.5 percent of their time on free access platforms like YouTube.

Views increased by 13% at the start of the lockdown
In the first 3 months of 2020, OTT platforms in India received 30,000 crore views. In the year 2019, this figure is 13% higher than the month of October to December. These figures date back to the time when the coronavirus started and the lockdown in the country began. The figures are likely to be higher in the second quarter of 2020, April to June.

Zee5 subscribers up 80% in lockdown, Amazon Prime second
According to research from the market research website Velocity MR, between March 25 and June 8, the subscribers of zee Group’s OTT platform zee5 grew by 80%. Amazon Prime ranks second with a 67% increase in users. Netflix’s subscribers have grown by 65%. ALT Balaji has also benefited in the meantime. The OTT platform has grown to 60% new subscribers.
