We are already concentrating on playable instant games on the Play Store even before they are downloaded. Now is the time to zoom in on more of the Android 12 game board features that seem to be inspired by Samsung Game Launcher and Game Tools. Yes, Google’s version of the game board will come with similar options like screen recording / capture, performance monitoring, gaming phone performance tuning, and live streaming.
The game board (aka game mode) is not fully enabled in beta yet, but it is expected to add more features over the next few weeks. For now, the features we know about are easy utilities to take screenshots, record game instantly without the need for third-party apps, adjust brightness control, YouTube live stream, and do not disturb toggle option.
Then there will be the game optimization options that we already talked about. These include the battery saver option in which the frame rate will be reduced and the quality of the graphics will also toggle. On the other hand, in performance mode, the frame rate will be increased to the maximum and the quality of the graphics will also improve.
All of this is available for developers to tweak their games for the final version of Android 12 later this year. Google is providing them with tools like Game Mode APIs to take full advantage of the new game board for the best user experience and battery optimization.
Pixel devices and other top-tier flagships from major OEMs like Samsung and OnePlus are very likely to get game mode before others. Eventually, the feature is bound to hit all phones over the next year, which means mobile gamers will already be looking to explore the freshness of Android 12.
