Morris, 31, gave the Lakers a solid stretch 4 to space the court and complement superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. At 6 feet 8 inches and 245 pounds, he can play both forward positions and is 34.5% from 3-point shots in his career; he was even better last season, shooting 38.6% from beyond the arc.
Morris performed especially well in the postseason, 29 of 69 (42%) from 3-point range for the NBA champions.
Morris joined the Lakers in February after negotiating a purchase with the Detroit Pistons, for whom he played the first 44 games of the season. After erasing the exemptions, Morris signed with the Lakers through the $ 1.75 million disabled player exception granted to them for the injured DeMarcus Cousins earlier in the season.
Morris, a Kansas product who was the 13th pick in the 2011 draft, has career averages of 11.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
His twin brother, Marcus Morris, plays for the LA Clippers.
