Senior Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Aamir have been informed that A-type cricketers will now get match fees. Actually, these four have no central agreement. Earlier, they were paid on par with ‘C’ category cricketers. According to information received, all the four players had asked the match chief executive officer Wasim Khan about the match fever.
All four players had told Wasim Khan that he was being treated unfairly for not getting a central contract and that he was not being paid a high quality match fee by senior players. Sources close to the matter said, “In the past, as there was no central agreement, they were paying match fees to C-category players, which cost around Rs 2,02,000 (Pakistani) for ODIs and T20 internationals.” There is less provision for this.
He said that now all the four players will get match fee along with the players in category A. There is a provision of Rs 30,000 per day for ODI assets and Rs 30,30,000 per match for T20 Internationals. However, the team turned down another request from the players, in which they are in the foreign T20 league as they are part of the national team. Compensation was sought without taking part.
He said, “The board has said that they cannot pay any compensation for this and the players should give priority to national duty.” Hafeez was recently named in the Sri Lanka Premier League after being named in the squad for the New Zealand tour. He had to withdraw from it, causing a loss of about one crore rupees. The board also rejected his request to join the team late on the New Zealand tour.
