• The UAE has started preparations for the IPL 2020 amid speculation and pitches are being kept fresh.
There is speculation that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may organize the Indian Premier League or IPL abroad in view of the corona virus epidemic this time. BCCI also has limited options for conducting IPL abroad, as there are few countries where corona virus outbreak is less. One of them is Sri Lanka and the other is UAE ie UAE.
In such a situation, it is believed that BCCI can move to Dubai for training of IPL and players. However, this is yet to be decided by the BCCI, but the UAE has started gearing up after speculating about the IPL hosting. Salman Hanif, Head of Cricket and Events, Dubai Sports City, said that the currently suspended IPL could be held in the UAE, as COVID-19 cases in India are steadily increasing. Even we are keeping the facilities of organizing this event ready.
For the IPL’s 13th season, the organizers aim to secure a September-October window that they can grab, as there is a lot of uncertainty around during the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November. Speaking to ‘Gulf News’, Hanif said that Dubai Sports City, which includes Dubai International Stadium and ICC Academy, is ready as a potential venue for IPL.
Hanif stated, “The stadium has nine wickets at the top, while a large number of matches can be accommodated within a shorter timeframe. We will not schedule any matches there to keep the wickets fresh.” ” More than 50 thousand cases of corona virus have been reported in UAE and more than 300 deaths have also occurred due to this epidemic. On the other hand, the number of corona cases in India is over 1 million, while more than 25 thousand people have died from it. Salman Hanif has said that there are many facilities here, in which you will not have trouble in practicing.
