Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir is in the spotlight in IPL 2020. Although he is not playing on the field, ESPN is affiliated with Cricinfo as an expert. After losing the eliminator match, Gambhir asked RCB captain Virat Kohli to step down. He said a player who can’t make it a champion in 8 seasons doesn’t have the right to captain. Gambhir has led Kolkata to two-time champions under his leadership.
Despite being the captain for many days, Gambhir was not happy with the Kolkata team. He could not enjoy the game with KKR. He revealed this in an interview. There is a video on YouTube channel Sports in which Gambhir said a lot. He said, “My money was more tagged in the Kolkata team. I could not enjoy my game with it. I can honestly say that if someone said that I was not under pressure from money, I would say that this pressure was on me. If he gave money, he gave it with confidence.
Gambhir further said, “When I went to KKR in the first year, there was a lot of pressure. This pressure was maintained for seven consecutive years. It’s not that if you won the title in 2012, there was no pressure in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Even then, five years was a lot of pressure. Because I had high expectations of me. Honor also had high expectations from me. I had to prove that I should perform as you pay me. I could not enjoy the oppression. ”
Gambhir dropped out of the Kolkata team after 2017. It was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capital) for Rs 3 crore. He left the captaincy in the middle and retired. Speaking about that season, Gambhir said, “I had a contract worth Rs 3 crore. I didn’t spend Rs 3 crore for 100 runs. So I didn’t take the money. I did not become God. I just feel like my performance wasn’t right. ”
