Event confirmed for late March in Mexico City

The Baseball Champions League Americas (BCL Americas) is slated to return to Mexico City in late March 2026, with the week of March 23 tentatively set for the tournament, LMB president Horacio de la Vega confirmed in an interview. The Diablos Rojos del Mexico will host the event again at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu as they defend their BCL Americas crown.

Hosts and expected participants

De la Vega said representatives from Venezuela, Cuba and the United States are expected to participate. For the first time in the competition’s short history, a team from Asia has also expressed interest and is expected to take part, marking a step toward broader international growth.

Quote from LMB president

“We are very proud that we were the pioneers, the ones who innovated, who created this project… I’m sure we’ll give it the time and space it needs to grow, and it will be an extremely successful project in the future.” — Horacio de la Vega

De la Vega made the announcement during a press conference in Mexico City and in a video interview posted by Mexican journalist McCoy Galvan on PonPausa.

Event history and context

The inaugural BCL Americas was held in Mérida, Yucatán, in September 2023. That first tournament featured champions from Mexico’s LMB, Cuba’s Serie Nacional, Colombia’s Liga Profesional, and the United States’ independent American Association. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the American Association captured the first title.

In 2025, the Diablos Rojos won the BCL Americas title at Alfredo Harp Helu, beating Cuba’s Leñadores de Las Tunas in the final. That edition featured six teams, including champions from Puerto Rico, Curaçao, Nicaragua and other leagues across the Americas.

Why Mexico City?

Mexico City and the Diablos Rojos have become a recurring host thanks to strong local support, stadium facilities and the club’s recent on-field success. Organizers say staging the event in a major market helps attract expanding international interest.

What’s next

Organizers will finalize teams, schedule and official dates in the coming months. The confirmed participation of Venezuela, Cuba, the U.S. and an Asian representative signals the BCL Americas’ push to broaden its footprint beyond the Western Hemisphere.
