The enigmatic masked cowboy of country, Orville Peck, is set to unveil his next musical chapter with a new EP, Appaloosa, dropping on November 14. To signal its arrival, Peck has released the lead single, “Drift Away,” a hauntingly reflective track that captures the quiet desperation of post-pandemic life.

The new single serves as a poignant preview of the EP’s tone, painting a picture of small-town listlessness. Peck’s signature croon delivers evocative lyrics that many will find all too familiar: “Watch the kids ridin’ shotgun roads/ In ’21 all the movies closed/ High and dry they got nowhere else to go.” The song isn’t about escaping, but about surrendering to the moment, as he beckons listeners in the chorus: “It’s not about gettin’ out/ It’s about lettin’ go, don’t ya know?/ Drift away with me/ Drift away with me.”
Star Collaborations and a Packed Tracklist
Appaloosa promises to be a compelling seven-track collection. One of the most anticipated songs is “Atchafalaya,” a collaboration with Noah Cyrus. This marks another team-up for the duo, who have previously worked together on tracks like “Love Is a Canyon” and “How Far Will We Take It?”

From the Stage to the Silver Screen
Peck’s creative output remains relentless. This new EP follows his recent album, Stampede, and the star-studded duets project, Stampede Vol. 1, which featured legends like Willie Nelson and Elton John. His 7th Annual Rodeo is also set to take place from November 14-16 at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California, featuring a lineup that includes Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Joy Oladokun, and Allison Russell. Peck himself will perform a different set each day.
Beyond music, Peck recently wrapped filming on the 2026 movie Street Fighter, where he will play the iconic masked assassin, Vega—a role that seems tailor-made for the mysterious musician. This comes after a successful stint on Broadway in the revival of Cabaret, proving his artistic versatility knows no bounds.
