Health Scare Sidelines Country Star
In a move that has shocked fans, country music sensation Cody Johnson has canceled the remainder of his 2025 tour dates to undergo emergency surgery. The announcement came Tuesday, revealing that a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection led to a ruptured eardrum, necessitating immediate medical intervention.
“A Very Heavy Heart”
In a statement to his fans, Johnson expressed his regret over the cancellations. “It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen,” he said. “The healing process will take many weeks, and it is not possible for me to sing during this time… I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love.”
Over half a dozen arena shows were canceled, and ticket holders will be contacted by their point of purchase regarding refunds. In a video update posted later, Johnson appeared with a bandage over his ear, confirming the surgery went well and was necessary to avoid a much longer recovery.
What’s Next for CoJo?
The timing of the surgery raises questions about Johnson’s attendance at the CMA Awards on November 19. The 38-year-old artist, known as CoJo, is a top contender with four nominations, including the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award.
Despite the setback, the “Til You Can’t” singer is expected to make a full recovery. He is currently scheduled to resume performing in February and is slated to headline the Stagecoach Festival in April alongside Post Malone and Lainey Wilson.
