A concert by rapper NBA YoungBoy at Miami’s Kaseya Center descended into chaos Monday night, culminating in a dramatic and violent arrest that was caught on camera. A 23-year-old man, identified as Marcus Antwon Reed, was ultimately tased and arrested after a prolonged struggle with police that saw both the suspect and officers fall down 15 rows of arena seating.
Disturbance Leads to Violent Confrontation
The incident began around 10:15 p.m. in Section 311 of the arena. According to the official arrest report, Miami police officers working an off-duty detail were called to the section after receiving reports that several individuals were refusing to follow the venue’s rules.
When officers arrived, they reported that Reed made “unwanted physical contact” with one of them and actively resisted their efforts to escort him out of the seating area. The situation quickly escalated when Reed allegedly grabbed a nearby handrail and refused to let go, leading to a physical struggle.
Failed Taser and a Shocking Fall
In an attempt to subdue the resisting suspect, a Miami Police Department sergeant instructed an officer to deploy a Taser. The report states that the Taser was used twice on Reed’s chest, but both attempts were ineffective in gaining his compliance.
What happened next was captured on startling surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News. During the intense struggle, Reed and the officers lost their footing, tumbling approximately 15 rows down the steep seating area. The chaotic video shows the bodies falling down the stairs before coming to a stop.
Arrest and Subsequent Charges
Following the fall, additional police units arrived on the scene and were finally able to place Reed in handcuffs. Authorities reported that an officer had to strike Reed twice in the ribs and pull his hair to gain his compliance before he was escorted out of the building. Police said Reed continued to resist even as he was being removed from the Kaseya Center.
Miami Fire Rescue was called to evaluate Reed at the scene before he was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. He was later booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Jail records show Reed is facing a litany of serious charges, including two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and four counts of resisting an officer with violence. His bond was set at $7,500.
Fortunately, no serious injuries to the officers or other concertgoers were reported following the dangerous incident.
