Wakanda Forever promo art first look at Namor villain Attuma

Thor: Love and Thunder It hits theaters next week, but it won’t be the last film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that’s been looking forward to this year. Black Panther: Wakanda Always Releasing later this year and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett and Martin Freeman. Not much is known about the much-awaited film, but there are many rumors that Namor will be a lead character in the film, with many believing that Tenoch Hurta will play the role. Twitter account today @mcu_feature Shared some promo art which is reportedly the first look of Attuma, a villain and enemy of Namor.

“🚨 #BlackPantherWakandaForever official merch! First look for #Attuma! #MCU #Marvel #MarvelStudios #BlackPanther #WakandaForever #Atlantis,” the account tweeted. You can watch it below:

After being cast in Huerta Black Panther: Wakanda Always, it was widely speculated that he would play Namor, but the origins of Namor would have changed. There are several reports of film casting for Mesoamerican characters, as well as more recent reports that Atlantis will instead be a submerged city in Mexico or Central America. Additionally, much of the promo art that has recently appeared online appears to have some references to Mesoamerican design and culture, specifically the collar and armor on the arms and legs. The use of tepilotl in wrap gifts of film also fits into that principle.

While little is known about the upcoming film, the actors involved have said that it will be a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

“It’s an incredible honor to have Chadwick Boseman,” Letitia Wright said of the first feature. “It’s full of exciting things. November, it can’t come sooner so I’m excited for you guys to see it.” Wright continued, “We honored them by committing ourselves to the story we started, the legacy they started with this franchise, and we committed to working hard every day, no matter what we do. And we faced many situations. A lot of tough situations, but we came together as a team. We gave our everything in this film.”

Gurira made a similar comment in another interview. “Listen, we put our everything in this,” Gurira shared. “We hope you experience it, and the way it resonates for us. It’s a very heartwarming story and that’s all I can say. The way our director/writer handled it I’m very grateful for that.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Opens in theaters on November 11.
