First Trailer for “Send Help” Reveals a Nightmare Business Trip

The first trailer for Sam Raimi’s new horror-thriller, Send Help, has dropped, and it plunges Rachel McAdams into a corporate nightmare that quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival. The film, described as a “darkly comedic” thriller, combines the stranded-on-an-island terror of Lost with the workplace revenge fantasy of Horrible Bosses.

The story centers on Linda Liddle (McAdams), a capable employee who finds herself on a business trip with her condescending and mean-spirited superior, Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien). As seen in the tense teaser, their trip to a “Bangkok merger” is violently interrupted when their plane crashes, leaving them as the sole survivors on a remote, deserted island. What begins as a battle against the elements quickly becomes a blood-soaked struggle for dominance as the established power dynamics between boss and subordinate are violently upended.

A Battle for Survival and Power

The trailer masterfully sets up the conflict before the crash, showing O’Brien’s character patronizingly denying McAdams’ character a promotion, telling her that while she’s “good with numbers,” she needs to prove herself. That condescending dynamic is shattered when they are forced to rely on each other to survive. Stranded and desperate, the duo must set aside their deep-seated differences to have any hope of making it back home alive.

Sam Raimi on the “Outrageous and Original” Pitch

Legendary director Sam Raimi, who previously worked with McAdams on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, explained his immediate attraction to the project in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “The pitch was outrageous and original,” Raimi said. “I knew right away that I wanted to direct this picture.”

He elaborated on the film’s deeper themes, seeing it as more than just a simple survival story. “What I really love about this story is that it’s an underdog tale at its core,” Raimi continued. “Not only is it about survival on a deserted island, but it’s also a story of female empowerment and transformation. Watching a once-powerful boss find himself dependent on someone he underestimated is satisfying. Our story is universal! We need to encourage our society to treat people with respect and kindness, regardless of status.”
