Marvel’s Kevin Feige Casts John Krasinski as Reed Richards Due to Fan Demand

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Disney+ has already made its way onto the streaming service, and it has come with a slew of surprises. Throughout the film, we are introduced to the classic Marvel Comics group, The Illuminati, who featured Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Captain Carter (Haley Atwell), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Black Bolt (Anson Mount) in the film. was. Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski). The latter of the group has been fan-cast in the role several times over the years, so when he hit the screens it was sure to be seen as some kind of fan service. As it turns out, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was the man who cast Krasanski as Mr. Fantastic, and that was because it would make fans’ dreams come true. Director Sam Raimi revealed as much when doing audio commentary for the film, which can be found on Disney+ via additional features for the film.

“It’s so funny that Kevin” [Feige] cast john [Krasinski] Because the fans dreamed of who would be the perfect Reed Richards,” Raimi revealed. “And because it’s an alternate universe, I think Kevin said, ‘Let’s make that dream come true.’ Really enjoyed it.'”

before, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Writer Michael Waldron revealed that even though he never saw fan casting when casting the Illuminati, John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic was an exception. Krasinski was one of the names that continued to pop up around Fantastic Four’s conversation, and now Raimi’s comments prove it to be true. During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, we asked Waldron how they went about casting the members of The Illuminati.

“Of course, I think so,” Waldron revealed. “It’s easy to be seduced by cheap laughs, cheap cheer, whatever. But never Marvel or Sam [Raimi] were interested in. It was always about what’s right for the story, what’s right for Steven Strange, what’s right for Wanda. It was never really about fan service. It was like, ‘If these Illuminati characters are here, they should be here because that’s what Illuminati has in the comics, and he will actually be in the Illuminati.’ He was our North Star.”
