When all is said and done, the Guardians don’t serve a major purpose in the film. Together, they spend most of their time on the same planet, preventing aliens like chickens from invading. It is on this planet that the group begins to undergo various distress calls, which appear on Benar, noting that the slaying of the gods in the universe has begun.

Thor takes notice when a message from Lady Siff (Jamie Alexander) begins to play out, who decides to part with the Guardians to investigate the murders. After a touching moment between Thor and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), the Gods of Thunder and Korg depart the planet to find Ceph.
