Denzel Washington to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Denzel Washington will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Denzel was announced today by President Joe Biden, as part of the president’s list of 17 new honorees who will receive the Medal of Freedom this year. Other honorees of this year’s Presidential Medal of Freedom include sports personalities Simone Biles and Megan Rapinoe; Simon Campbell and Father Alexander Carloutos from the Religious Community; political leaders (Gabriel Giffords and Alan Simpson); Activists (Fred Grey, Diane Nash and Raul Yazaguirre) and a whole exclusive list of others.

Denzel Washington’s list of accolades includes two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Glory) and Best Actor (Malcolm X), bringing a total of eight nominations over five decades – including this year for The Tragedy of Macbeth . Washington won a Tony Award (“Fence”), and the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. Still add Medal of Freedom to that list.
