The first collection jointly designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, in 1985, was unveiled thanks to an initiative by Milan Fashion Week. The catwalk then opened its doors to five young brands and from Dolce & Gabbana they took advantage of that opportunity to launch a path that would lead them to become one of the most famous brands in the world. Supporting young talents has now become a basic for the firm, through its Supported by Dolce&Gabbana project. If last February the Italians were in charge of welcoming the Korean Miss Sohee under their mantle, the company has just announced that next September they will do the same with the Englishman Matty Bovan. The designer, who is already working with Dolce & Gabbana at the house’s headquarters, will present his collection as part of the next Milan fashion week. The Italian brand will be in charge of giving you all the necessary support to develop and present a collection: from the supply of fabrics and materials to the production of the parade. Passing, of course, through the speaker that means for any new creative to be able to access the diffusion channels of the Italian firm. Designer Matty Bovan with Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce. I am still processing the idea of exploring his archives and mixing his historical work with my new production for next spring. I’m already feeling the turbo charge of this alliance!” For their part, the design duo have taken advantage of the same medium to highlight the parts of Bovan’s work that caught their attention: “The colors, proportions and energy of Matty Bovan’s work reveal the tremendous research and creative process behind each piece. We immediately had a special connection with him; we are happy to be able to support Matty and the poetry of his vision”. The British is one of the promises of the industry. He graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2015 and won the LVMH New Graduate Award, made three collections while he was part of the Fashion East talent incubator and has also received support from the British Fashion Council.
