Japan made a small electric bike “Poimo”, that can be folded and fit in the bag

You may have seen many unique bikes or scooters. But nowhere is there a two-wheeler that can be folded and put in a bag. Some researchers in Japan have developed a unique electric bike that can be easily folded and carried anywhere in a backpack. Named the Poimo, this electric bike is designed with short and medium distance transportation in mind.

Created by a team from the University of Tokyo

This special electric bike was built by a team from the University of Tokyo. The name Poimo is a combination of Portable and Inflatable Mobility as its short form. The team’s focus was on building an electric bike that people could easily carry on public transport and use as last-mile connectivity.

The electric pump will inflate the bike in a single minute

The Poimo bike is made from an inflatable rectangular frame made of thermoplastic polyurethane fabric. The bike comes with a small electric pump that can fully inflate the frame in about a minute. The bike is provided with a small electric motor and small rubber wheels attached under an inflatable frame. It also has a wireless controller, which is attached to the handlebars of the bike.

Weight 5 kg

This unique electric bike weighs about 5.44 kg. The team that built the bike says it is working to make the bike even lighter in the future. The company is preparing to launch this bike as a commercial product in the future.
