Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott hit it off when they met carpool karaoke in 2019, but, to his surprise, the famed contractor soon went radio silent, leading to new girl Star wondered if he was ghosting her!
(500 days of summer The star’s boyfriend opened up about their relationship in an interview with stirTelling Women’s magazine how a trip to the Rocky Mountains left Deschanel wondering if the HGTV personality was no longer interested in her.
Soon after meeting, Scott went on an equestrian trip to the Rocky Mountains, where he had no cell service, unaware of Deschanel, whose text left him unanswered for four days. Scott said that Deschanel felt he was ghosting her. Good news for Scott, he lost no ground with her and compensates for her disappearance with a sweet video to reassure him that he’s still very much interested in following her.
“The first message I sent when I came out of the mountains was a video I recorded for a Canadian country song that he mentioned to me,” he said. “She was like, ‘Oh, this guy likes me.’ And we’ve talked literally every single day since then. It’s been the best three years of my life.”
And, for the record, it was Scott who made the first move after appearing on carpool karaoke,
“I was flirting so bad that they had to edit it,” he quipped.
The couple is soon approaching their three-year anniversary and have made big strides along the way. Back in December, the couple revealed they were the proud owners of their “forever home” after falling in love with a 1938 Georgian-style home designed by famed architect Gerard Colcord.
“As we pulled up the drive, it just looked magical. It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and giant California sycamore, it looked like a park,” Scott said at the first Bar looked at his new home.
About a year ago, Scott told ET’s Nichelle Turner how he’s not taking her lightly when considering a romance.
“And I know I’m dating!” He said with a laugh. “That means I just need to raise the bar and live up to those expectations.”
