Will Smith is repenting after slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards ceremony earlier this year.
The 53-year-old actor on Friday shared a deeply personal video message on social media in which he apologized to Rock, Rock’s family as well as his family and friends. He also revealed that he has personally reached out to The Rock to apologize, but the comedian said that he was not yet ready or ready to work out their differences.
Smith said that his wife Jada Pinkett Smith asked him not to slap The Rock and apologized to him and his family for the “heat” he brought on them.
“I hate when I let people down. So it hurts, it hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I didn’t live for people’s image and my influence,” Smith in the video accepts. “And the things I’m trying to do, I’m deeply remorseful and I’m trying to repent without being ashamed of myself.
