Mark Wahlberg recalls how it was the first time he worked with the late James Caan, whose opening line was Father Stu The star bore a dreamy nickname.
During an appearance on Thursday’s episode The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonA photo showing Wahlberg, Kan, and Sylvester Stallone at Cain’s charity event prompted Fallon to ask what it was like working with the late actor.
“Best,” Wahlberg said before revealing how it was during their first encounter. “The first time I worked with him he said, ‘You know I’m dreaming of working, right?’ And since then I literally called her a dream. She’s amazing.”
Wahlberg and Cannes starred in the 2000 crime film Yard, which also starred Joaquin Phoenix and Charlize Theron. Wahlberg also told Fallon that, before Kahn’s death, they had actually gotten to spend some time together.
“We went to visit another friend,” he recalled. “I went to his house. We put out. And then we realized we had another friend, a dear friend of ours, who wasn’t well so we put Jimmy in a car and we went to see him and we met Went [hang out],
Cannes’ death earlier this month shocked Hollywood, and many paid tribute to the actor, best known for his roles in Saint, elf And Brian’s songincluding Wahlberg, who took to twitter and added, “Sad to hear of the passing of James Caan…It was an honor and a pleasure to know and work with a true legend like Jimmy. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP.”
Kahn’s death prompts Wahlberg to exhort everyone to reach out to their loved ones before it is too late.
“It just puts things in perspective,” he said. “I mean, life is too short. So, anyone you know — people, friends — is growing up, reach out to them and tell them you love them. Stay as close as possible. “
Last weekend, Kan’s cause of death was revealed, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said he died of a heart attack. The agency also noted that Cain suffered from coronary artery disease, a common heart condition.
