“It’s a nice milestone. I’m very happy to be a part of it,” McNally said. “I would say I don’t think I’ve earned it because I’ve only been there since Season 6, so I’m happy in five years. McNally shared that he’s excited about “discovering” Elizabeth and Lucas’ relationship, now that they’re on their way to marriage.

“The family dynamic is there and what does Lucas look like as a father? What does marriage look like? After you’re married and committed to each other, are there obstacles you need to overcome that you don’t already see? It’ll be fun to explore and I don’t know what the writers have in mind, but I’m excited to see it,” he said, adding that even those entering a new decade in Hope Valley find the story interesting. “We’re also moving into the 1920s and exploring a new decade – the Roaring Twenties. And I think that in itself is another character element that would be really fun to play with.”
