Vanessa enjoying Lachey’s success NCIS: Hawaii, ET spoke to the star of CBS’ hit TV drama at the Paramount+ upfront event about the show, and the big moment in her career in her 40s.
“I was just driving here with my friend and agent Logan, and we were talking about, ‘Wow, I’m in my 40s, I’ve done what I love my whole life, and Now it’s come to a place where it gets me what I love in a place I love — Hawaii, with the people I love,” Lachey said. “My family moved there, doing other things, like, hosting other shows for Netflix, or finally being able to write the book I wanted to write, And Take the show – it all sounds so surreal, but like, all the hard work has paid off.”
While it’s certainly a pinch moment for the host and actress, Lachey said she’s just trying to live in the moment and “enjoy it.”
She continued, “I’m really trying to live in the moment. I just recently saw, I think it was Tom Hanks who said – he gave an analogy about that when you’re on top of the world If so, how are you on top of the world, but that too, it will pass, so, just take this moment, live in the moment and just enjoy it.”
latest spin-off of NCIS The franchise stars Lachey as Jane Tennant, NCIS’s first female special agent in charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor. Together with their team of experts, they balance duty to family and country while investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security and the mysteries of a sun-drenched island paradise.
Playing Tennant is something that Lachey previously told ET that she feels very “comfortable and confident in.”
“I feel very comfortable and confident. I think a lot of it is my age. Maybe 20 years ago, 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have been in this position,” she told ET’s Kevin Frazier in November. “But at 40, there’s really some ground strength that you have with you, especially as a woman and a mother of three and a wife.”
The season 1 finale of the show is approaching, and while Lachey couldn’t say much more, he did have a message for his co-star, Noah Mills, which ET will catch up on next week.
“Noah, take off his pants,” said Lachey. “Noah, you got it.”
