Travis Scott was set to headline his first festival since the Astroworld tragedy in 2021, but that will have to wait. Day en Vegas has been cancelled.
The festival announced on Friday that it would have to cancel the much-anticipated event due to “a combination of logistics, timing and production issues”. The festival did not clarify what led to the cancellation, but it did announce that “the refund process will begin immediately.”
The “Goosebumps” rapper was to headline Day 3 of the Day En Vegas Festival, initially scheduled for Labor Day Weekend from September 2–4 at the Las Vegas Festival Ground. When the festival first announced its lineup, Sza was to headline Friday, followed by J. Cole and then Scott wrapped things up on Sunday. Playboi Carti, 21 Savage, HER, Jhene Aiko, T-Pain and Pusha T were some of the other actors.
It’s true that the Houston native is already about to headline the Primavera Sound Festival, but he’s only doing so for the South American leg. Brazil, Chile And Argentina in November, which means Day en Vegas will be his grand return to the festival circuit in the US
It’s worth noting that Live Nation is partly producing Primavera Sound, the same producer behind Astroworld. Day en Vegas was being produced by GoldenVoice, which also runs Coachella and Stage Coach and is a subsidiary of AEG.
In the midst of his return, Scott remains embroiled in several lawsuits filed against him (including a wrongful death suit) that stem from the Astroworld tragedy, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people.
