Todd and Julie Chrisley open up about ‘heartbreaking time’ following guilty verdict in tax evasion case

Todd and Julie Chrisley briefly share how they are feeling themselves in the midst of legal trouble after a jury returned a guilty verdict in their federal tax fraud case.

during Friday’s episode of his Chrisley Confessions podcast, Todd addressed the elephant in the room, saying, “I know you guys all want to know every detail of what’s going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we need to talk about it.” Not allowed. Chrisley Knows Best Star then went on to say how the trial and the subsequent verdict was affecting him.

“We wanted to come today and tell everyone that this is a very sad, heartbreaking time for our family right now, but we are still firm in our faith and we believe that God will do what he does best because God is a miracle worker,” added Todd.

Julie then added, “We’re alive and kicking and appreciate the support we’ve got from everyone.”

Todd said some of that support includes “tens and thousands of messages every day — from mail to gifts being delivered to people delivering food to our home.” He urged fans not to drive from far and wide and that food, flowers and gifts are much appreciated, not necessarily too urgent, even though “it’s a tough time right now.”

As far as how the kids are taking it, Todd says they are doing their best during this difficult situation.

“A lot of tears, a lot of heartache, a lot of sadness, trying very hard to understand how we are right now,” Todd said. “But here we are.”

What’s more, Todd says the couple will continue their Chrisley Confessions Podcasts, until they can’t.

“We’re going to continue Chrisley Confessions As long as we get to do it,” he said, “and then Chase and Savannah will take it and they’ll be the ones who can fill you in on everything that’s going on in our lives at the time. ,

The couple share Grayson, 16, Savannah, 24, and Chase, 26. Todd is also the father of 30-year-old Kyle and 32-year-old Lindsie from his first marriage. Todd and Julie Todd’s 78-year-old mother, Faye, is also the caretaker.

Earlier this month, Todd and Julie were found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax fraud. In addition, Julie was convicted of wire fraud. Chrisley Knows Best The stars face up to 30 years in prison. He is currently under house arrest until his sentencing in October.

In August 2019, Todd and Julie were charged by a federal grand jury with falsifying documents to secure up to $30 million in bank loans for personal use.

Following the guilty verdict, Julie’s attorney, Steve Friedberg, said in a statement to ET that “Chrisley is both devastated and disappointed by the verdict and will pursue an appeal.”
