There are only a few days left for God of Thunder to return to the big screen, and only ET has a behind-the-scenes look from the set. Thor: Love and ThunderHilarious led by star Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi.
In ET’s exclusive clip from the set of the upcoming Marvel movie — which was filmed on Day 84 love and need Production, Back in 2021 – The pair take fans on a tour of the city of New Asgard, though it looks a little different than we saw last time in the MCU. love and need reveals that King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) has shaped his people’s new home into an idyllic, commercial paradise, however, it is partially abandoned after a confrontation with the film’s villain, Gore the God Butcher (Christian Bale). has been ruined.
Hemsworth and Waititi happily join in the destruction as they show E.T. around on-set debris, smashing windows and throwing bricks and furniture at destroyed cars and set pieces.
“Just a Two Street thug, aren’t we?” Hemsworth jokes as the pair create hilarious havoc. Watch the clip in the video above.
“Don’t worry, New Asgard is insured,” says the actor. “So we’re definitely going to submit a claim and it will be rebuilt.”
Before that, though, the pair recruits co-star Natalie Portman—who returns to the MCU as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor in this installment—to get in on the fun, and she makes her way with a well-placed rock. Target shows hung on the car window.
While they cleverly kept silence on most of the plot details, Hemsworth and Waititi’s tour includes some easter eggs to whet fans’ appetites for the upcoming adventure, including a look at an ice cream shop called “Infinity Cones”. — in which a larger-than-life Thanos gauntlet is holding a sweet ice cream feast — that Waititi says he hopes will “one day make it into real life.”
Also have a look at something called a “goat boat”, what else is pulled a chariot made from an amusement park ride? “Giant goats that can travel in space,” laughs Portman.
ET spoke to Hemsworth before that love and need Premiere, where he marveled at working with Waititi once again, after joining the 2017 team Thor: Ragnarok.
“It’s one of the craziest things ever, if not the craziest things ever,” he said of the acclaimed director. “I think it’s the craziest thing I’ve been a part of. It’s wacky, it’s wild, it’s fun, like Thor: Ragnarok was. But now we have a beautiful love story at the center of it, some new armor, some new costumes.”
And in case it wasn’t already clear from their on-set antics, the pair clearly have a blast working together.
Hemsworth admitted, “I think for most of the film, the biggest challenge for Taika was going south through breaks and comedic improvisations and putting it all together.” “It gives a different energy to the whole set. Then what you see on screen is a byproduct of that atmosphere. Taika does this, he arranges a wacky set and then gives you a wacky film.”
