If there was the possibility of choose 10 leaders of great universal rock and pop bands to invite to a barbecue, to a picado in a quinta or to a guitar playing anywhere, it’s hard to believe that someone would leave former Nirvana and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl out of the selection.

With all the sterling rocker’s boxes checked only with having been Kurt Cobain’s side man, the man travels the paths of the genre stripped of any type of prejudice or pressure, making albums that go from good to the top, at the same time that he challenges a girl to play the drums or partners with her mother to make a series.

If there is something that the musician does not have when carrying out a project in which he believes, that is shame.

But as if it were not enough with everything that has already been credited to his name, at 52 years old, Dave Grohl is about to release Studio 666, the band’s first fiction film, a horror comedy based on his idea, which follows its members dealing with paranormal phenomena while recording their tenth studio album, and which already has its preview trailer.

The film, which hits US theaters on February 25, is directed by BJ McDonnell and stars the band members: Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee, who usually demonstrate their histrionic abilities during the group’s marathon concerts. In addition, figures of the stature of Will Forte, Jeff Garlin and Jenna Ortega are added.

On the trail of The Beatles

In the line of Dusk of a busy day (1964) or Help! (1965), not to say kiss against ghosts, which sounds less glamorous, the first films that John, Paul, George and Ringo shot at the height of Beatlemania, Grohl and company, who never hid their admiration for the four boys from Liverpool, will play fictionalized versions of themselves here.

As can be seen in the preview , the plot begins when the Foo Fighters decide to move to a mansion in Encino, California, to work on the development and recording of what will be their tenth studio album.

Once there, the former Nirvana drummer and mastermind of the band is threatened and then directly possessed by supernatural forces, which threaten not only the possibility of the album coming to fruition but also the very lives of their peers. Nothing that will surprise, from the plot… But what does that matter?

Fans will not find the idea of the film too crazy, or at least not more than usual in 25 years of the band’s history. For decades, Foo Fighters has been working on many of its video clips as small films with a high humorous content.

Just as The Beatles did during their reign in the 20th century, and beyond comparisons about the impact of the music of each group, the members of Foo Fighters reaffirm with their own film that his recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was no accident and that they are one of the most influential bands from 2000 onwards.
