These are the Mexican films that will premiere at the Venice Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festivaloriginally known as the International Film Festival of the Venice Biennaleis one of the events most important cinematographic in the worldand as usual, there is a Mexican presence at the event.

Who are the Mexicans at the Venice Film Festival?

Between this August 30 and September 10, the 79th edition of the cultural festival in which you will see a total of four Mexican films, one of them within the main official competition and three outside of it, according to the Mexican Institute of Cinematography.

The list of Mexican films is headed by Bardo, false chronicle of a few truthsa film directed by the award-winning filmmaker Oscar Alejandro González Iñárritu, which will be released in theaters and through the Netflix platform.

This long-awaited film, “tells the story of a renowned Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker, who upon returning to his country faces his own identity, his memories and the new reality that surrounds Mexico“.

Outside of the official competition, two feature films and one short film will be presented: Red shoesby Carlos Eichelmann Kaiser in the Horizontes Extra section; white girl, by director Fernando Guzzoni in the Horizontes section; and the short film Maidby Argentine director Lucrecia Martel, in a co-production with Mexico.

In an interview for MILLENNIUM, Eichelmann said about his new film, which opens on September 4 at the festival: “The film fundamentally deals with issues such as the conflict with the father and with the lineage, gender violence and guilt. The story stems from my own concerns, if I dig deeper it may be that the first impulse of the film was the relationship with my dad, but it evolved and became this story.
