doll face returns to Hulu, and season 2 promises even more drama as Jules (Kat Dennings), Madison (Brenda Song), Stella (Shay Mitchell) and Izzy (Esther Povitsky) try to keep their group together after the pandemic.
In the just released trailer for the show’s highly anticipated second season, we see Jules and her best friends trying to make up for lost time after spending over a year indoors due to the pandemic. By the time the girls turn 30 they need to get used to being back in the world as they navigate their way through work, love, and a deeper relationship with each of themselves.
ET spoke to Dennings, Song, and Mitchell ahead of the show’s first season premiere in 2019, where they discussed the dramedy and its focus on female friendships.
“doll face is actually a name that I came up with. That’s what my ex always called me, “reveals Dennings about the sweet and catchy title of the series.
“When you get into a relationship, sometimes you are very, very involved in your boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s life and you forget your own life,” Song told ET about Jules’ metaphorical return to the world of women.
That world comes into play when Dennings says Julies is having “an emotional upswing”.
“The magical realism in the series comes at times when Jules is experiencing an emotional boom,” said Dennings. “When the feelings get overwhelming for her, she goes to that other zone.”
This world includes a “cat lady” who will help Jules cope with her terrible breakup with Jeremy in season 1 and will be back in season 2 to help her further adjust to the single life.
“The Friends Group is the series’ love story, which is a big story I think we tell,” he said WandaVision Actress added and cemented what the series is about.
Season 2 of doll face Premiere on Hulu February 11th.
