many expectations

During a virtual panel at the Summer TCA Session, creators Gilligan and Gould along with series stars Bob Odenkirk (Jimmy) and Rhea Seehorn (Kim) answered questions about the anticipation surrounding the delivery of the series’ final episode.

Gould, the most verbose of the panel, noted: “All we can do is hope”. given that it will be the fans who define the closing of Better Call Saulalthough considering the inclination of the Gilligan-Gould society specialized in offering unexpected twists, it would be reasonable to reach the end with open eyes and hearts.

For his part, Gilligan was less anxious about the imminent conclusion of the series than Gould, although not as much: “I can’t wait to see how people react to this. I am very proud of it. Peter (Gould) did a fantastic job,” he added.

Protagonist Bob Odenkirk subscribed to this line of thought and expressed his calm about the outcome, “Since I read it I calmed down. The writers have found a way to deliver on the heart of the show and the audience has been amazing.”

“It is a privilege to have been able to work with all these people. I worked with the best cast and crew on television and I want to say that it is the ideal situation for any director, “Gould acknowledged, who was optimistic about the end of the series. “Then, hopefully, people will like it like us, this is all I can say”, he added and with a Hooray! he closed his comment.

As to where history is heading, it cannot be denied that Jimmy made some wrong moves towards the end of the series.

“You want to see someone delve into their madness,” Odenkirk said. about his character’s descent into extremely worrying territory. Although Saul was always a suspicious person in breaking badfans got to meet a different character in Better Call Saul Y seeing him threaten an old woman in the penultimate chapter was simply terrifying.

“At some point he was driven by self-destruction”, Odenkirk was honest. I thought a lot about that movie. Leaving Las Vegas (played by Nicolas Cage and Elizabeth Shue, in 1995) in connection with Jimmy’s scam of Marion (Carol Burnett). What started out as a simple mall robbery scam turned into something much darker,” she explained.

Odenkirk acknowledged that “the crime of getting these rich guys drunk and stealing their private information, like in that round of the Jimmy/Saul scam, just goes haywire; I feel bad because he made that decisionbut I will say that I feel wonderful and excited about what the writers came up with in regards to the ending.”
