This Saturday, January 15, a new edition of the Jose Ignacio International Film Festival, as always with preview films, free admission, open-air performances and sponsored by Clarion.

This 12th edition has six international feature films and four short films, and five of the Uruguayan films and short films will compete for the vote of the public and the jury.

The film that is not in competition is, precisely, official competition, the film by Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn, which had its international premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September and will now have its premiere throughout the Americas at José Ignacio.

During this week in the Uruguayan resort, a few kilometers from Punta del Este, and after sunset, the projections will begin, and there will be access to all the functions from a reservation system that is available on the Festival website , www.joseignaciofilmfestival.com.

The 12th edition of JIIFF will take place from Saturday, January 15 to Sunday, January 23. The five films in competition went through the Cannes Film Festival.

It competed for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. A billionaire businessman wants to leave something transcendent, and decides to produce a movie. To do this, he hires a famous film director (Penélope Cruz), who calls in two well-known actors, perhaps the best, but with a huge ego and who are completely opposite in their approach to acting: Hollywood actor Félix Rivero (Antonio Banderas) and the acting teacher, a man of the theater, Iván Torres (Oscar Martínez). The filmmaker will expose them to eccentric tests during the rehearsal period.

It had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. A celebration is held for the 18th birthday of Claudio and Carmela’s eldest daughter. There is an obvious rivalry between the birthday girl and her 15-year-old sister Chiara. The family seems united, but everything will change the next day when the father disappears from Calabria. And Chiara starts an investigation.

A childless couple in rural Iceland make a startling discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature. It is the debut feature by the director, who also had his debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

It won the award for best screenplay and the FIPRESCI award at Cannes.
