“I have breast cancer. It’s hard to say, but it’s easy to keep it to yourself,” the expert organizer began in a lengthy post. “I’m having a double mastectomy tomorrow (prayers welcome!), and I wanted to say a few words before I do. I found myself a lump in the last week of February. I’ve been having a single with my OB for several months. Was trying to make appet, and even when I told them I found a lump, they couldn’t accommodate me.

“I had to request a mammogram from my general practitioner, which led to an ultrasound and then an emergency triple biopsy. I have two tumors, 1 cm each, that are aggressive and rapidly growing – but I found it early. Got it. If I hadn’t taken it upon myself, I would have been in a completely different position right now,” she continued.

The Netflix star explained why she decided to make her “personal choice” public. “Sharing my experience makes cancer feel purposeful. If I can convince any of you to regularly self-examine, always advocate for yourself, and prioritize your health over your busy schedule — that’s it.” It would mean something,” Klee said. “It is also important to note that I was under 40 when these tumors formed, and there is no history of breast cancer in my family. Even though cancer seems unlikely, it’s still very possible.”

“I have to admit, for the first few days I endured the ‘why me’ feelings. But soon, I started thinking ‘Honestly, why not me?!’ I have all the support, resources and a platform to help other people through this. So if someone has to get breast cancer, I’ll happily let it happen to me. Thank you for being on this journey. I love the community, and you mean more to me than you will ever know,” she signed off with a heart emoji.
