The academy has not yet announced who will be in charge

MEXICO CITY. — After three straight years without an Oscars host, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will bring back a master of ceremonies for Hollywood’s most important night.

ABC and Hulu head Craig Erwich announced there will be a host this year, although he didn’t give further details in an official announcement yesterday.

The organization confirmed that Glenn Weiss will continue to chair the awards ceremony in its 94th edition; It is the seventh time the program has been chaired.

The Oscars have been hostless since the 2019 ceremony, when Kevin Hart was originally set to hold the position but resigned after old tweets and comments deemed homophobic resurfaced.

In subsequent editions, the Academy went on without a host, opening the show with a performance by Queen and Adam Lambert, the year that “Bohemian Rhapsody” was nominated for Best Picture.

Producers decided not to change the formula for 2020 as “Parasite” took home the top honor of the night. Jimmy Kimmel was the last to officiate at the ceremony, presenting the show two years in a row.

The 2022 ceremony, which will be produced by Will Packer, will air Sunday, March 27 in the United States on ABC.
