Mama Baxter is home! that’s so Raven alum T’Keya Crystal Keymah makes her anticipated return as Tanya Baxter on the Disney Channel series, Raven’s houseMore than 16 years later – and the actress spoke exclusively to ET about her long-awaited homecoming.
ET first reported on June 21 that it will be available on Keymah. “It’s so exciting. I can’t even believe it,” Keimah told ET’s Deidre Behr on Monday about her onscreen family. And usually you don’t realize how big they are… but I’m so excited about how excited people are about this comeback. about because they’ve struggled about it for years.”
“I didn’t learn until years later that people saw I was gone. Then it’s years later, ‘Where is he? Where’s Mommy?'” she continued. “I’m just thrilled for myself and my fans that I finally got to play a character that I had created 20 years ago.”
Recently, Raven-Symoné revealed that Keimah had received a call to potentially reprise her role. Raven’s house, Keema shared that when they reached out it was an easy decision for them.
“He asked me if I wanted to play with him and I said yes. It was that simple,” she said. “I think they always planned for me to come back in the last episode of this season. And so I’m so glad it worked out.”

Keemah admitted that she was nervous before going on set, but once she arrived, she felt nothing had changed. “I thought, ‘Oh, I’m at home. This is my living room. Me, Tanya Baxter. This is my kitchen. This is my husband’s restaurant, The Chill Grill. I’m good,'” she recalled. “It felt like I turned away for a minute and then came back.”
“She, Tanya Baxter, was so familiar to me that it was easy to jump back in her shoes — literally,” Keemah said. “And having Rondell there and Raven being there, it was just so familiar. Because I’ve seen this show, when I saw Isaac [Ryan Brown, who plays Raven’s son, Booker]I thought, ‘Well, this is my grandson!'”
Asked exclusively about the Season 5 finale, she only told ET that “it’s a surprise to everyone when I show up” and that Baxters initially had “a mixed reaction, but They are happy to see this. Keema took some time to reflect on the impact he had made with his character.
“This experience, because it was such a slow boil, I am enjoying it so much – the fans and Raven and Rondell, everyone did it,” she credited. “That the work I did 20 years ago was so in everyone’s heart that they really wanted me to do it again. Means the world to me. I’ve always said that I have the best family in the world.” And that includes all my fans and I really, really appreciate them.”
