'SNL': Selena Gomez talks single and 'manifesting love' in hosting debut monologue

The singer and actress helmed the sketch series over the weekend and joked about her dating life and her career.

Selena Gomez is looking for love! singer and actress took saturday night live Stage in his hosting debut over the weekend, and used his monologue to find a date.

“One of the reasons I’m so happy to host is because I’m single,” Gomez shared. “And I hear SNL is a great place to find romance!”

“Emma Stone met her husband here,” shared Gomez, listing the couples she met on the sketch series. “Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, and Pete [Davidson] And Machine Gun Kelly.”

Gomez explained that, since she doesn’t want to try any dating apps, “I just want to put it in-universe that I’m professing love. I want to say I’m looking into my soulmate but at the moment I I’ll take anyone.”

This, of course, prompted members of Kyle Mooney, James Austin Johnson and Punky Johnson to pique their interest – all to no avail.

Before addressing his love life, he also talked about starting hosting and how he got some advice SNL legends – and his only murders in the building Co-starring – Steve Martin and Martin Short.

“Steve said, ‘Don’t trust anyone,’ and Marty said, ‘I think Steve Martin is using my credit card,'” Gomez joked.

“I even asked one of my oldest friends, Miley Cyrus, and she said, ‘Just be yourself, and have fun,'” Gomez said, using this to bust her surprisingly spot-on Cyrus impression. Got a chance “I was like, ‘Miley, is this just an excuse for me to impress you on the show?’ And she was like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m Miley Cyrus.'”

Later in the evening, Gomez had a little reunion when she got some help from Martin for a pre-recorded sketch.

In the segment, “Inventor Documentaries,” Gomez hosts a TV series looking at the lives of some of history’s most famous inventors. In this case, Archie Gizmo (Martin), the inventor of the whoopie cushion and every other novelty prank toy known to man.
