Season Two Cheer Trailer Addresses Jerry Harris' Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Netflix hit To cheer is back for season 2, and the trailer released Tuesday addresses the sexual misconduct allegations against season 1 star Jerry Harris.

Harris, a clear fan favorite on the show, was arrested for child pornography in September 2020, and a Harris spokesperson told ET at the time that he is denying any claims against him. Last December, Harris pleaded not guilty on a total of seven counts, including four cases of child sexual exploitation, one case of obtaining child pornography, one case of travel with intent to engage in illegal sexual contact with minors, and one case of lure .

The trailer addresses the headline-grabbing allegations, while footage of the FBI raid on Harris’ home is shown. Coach Monica Aldama then says: “It’s definitely the toughest season I’ve ever had.”

She fights back tears and says, “I can’t even deal with it right now.”

The star of the first season, Gabi Butler, also shares: “Cheerleading is the only thing that can distract me from everything else.”

Meanwhile, the competition between the cheering teams from Navarro and Trinity Valley is as fierce as ever. Trinity Valley head coach Vontae Johnson is featured as a formidable force to be reckoned with. On his team is Tumbler Angel Rice, known as “the Simone Biles of cheerleading”.

“My mindset was how I was in football,” says Johnson. “I’m out to destroy you.”

Recurring faces of Navarro include La’Darius Marshall, Morgan Simianer, and Lexi Brumback. Season 2 of To cheer will start streaming on Netflix on January 12, 2022.

If 22-year-old Harris is convicted, each of the sexual exploitation charges carries a minimum mandatory 15 year sentence, while the temptation charge is a minimum of 10 years. Last September, a Harris spokesman told ET: “We categorically deny the allegations made against Jerry Harris, allegedly made during his teenage years. We are confident that when the investigation is over, the real facts will emerge.”

According to court documents ET received last October, Harris allegedly sent and requested inappropriate photos of several minors for over two years. Prosecutors alleged that he also sexually abused a 15-year-old boy at a public celebration after following him into a bathroom. According to the documents, Harris also offered significant sums of money to minors to engage in sexually explicit acts and admitted making many attempts to meet minors he met online in person.
