Ryan Phillippe dishes on Son Deacon’s acting debut and musical future (exclusive)

Ryan Phillippe is one proud father! ET’s Matt Cohen spoke to the 47-year-old actor on Wednesday and praised his 18-year-old son Deacon for his growing acting and music career. Ryan shares teens with his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, as well as a 22-year-old daughter, Ava. He is also the father of 11-year-old Kai from a previous relationship.

Deacon, set to make on-screen debut with Season 3 of Joe never have I everRecently graduated high school and is going to college in the fall.

“I’m very proud. He’s about to go to college for music. That’s his primary focus. Acting is the thing he loves to do, and he’ll do it according to his appetite for it, but his focus is mainly music, ” Said Ryan. “Music, he’s actually dropping a mixtape on SoundCloud this Friday. It’s incredible. I’m so excited for people to hear it. It’s really cool stuff. I’m so proud.”

While Deacon is just beginning his career, his father has been in the business for decades. One of his early films, I Know What You Did Last SummerIt will celebrate its 25th anniversary this October.

Ryan told ET, “I remember a good amount, because it was only my second or third film and I was very excited to do it. When you say it’s the 25th anniversary, it makes me feel like a dinosaur.” Is.” , “Like, jesus, how long have I been doing this? Nothing but good memories of that time… I was 19 when I did it, so there’s a lot of young memories attached to it. I’m definitely going to do it.” I’m happy to do it.”

The thriller follows three couples who cross paths during an evening at a Los Angeles restaurant. Ryan and Kat play one of those couples, and their characters are on a blind date in the film.

“One of the most interesting things to me about this process was that Kat and I didn’t really meet or spend time around each other until we sat down and started filming, which was a lot. It was good,” Ryan said. “…we didn’t really know much about each other before we started, so it felt very true to some degree about our characters’ experience.”

Kat while speaking to ET agreed, saying, “We filmed it in a linear way from beginning to end of the characters. It forced us to really trust each other.” “…It really forced us to stay on our toes. For some things we just had to go for it and it was really fun.”
