Ronda Rousey will not be seen in the ring anytime soon. The 35-year-old wrestler has been suspended indefinitely by WWE after an attack on an official during SummerSlam in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday.
“Following her attack on referee Dan Angler at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended,” WWE said in a statement.
Rousey “shows her anger at Angler after SmackDown Women’s Title match, claims” [Engler] Counting down to the pinfall, Liv Morgan misses to tap the armbar.”
Now the suspension means Rousey will “no longer appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.”
After his match ended, Rousey turned the referee over his shoulder and slammed him like a rag doll on the floor. He knocked her down until an outright WWE official came into the ring and asked Rousey to end the madness. Announcers feared it could be bad for Rousey, saying she could face “a fine or maybe even worse”.
Rousey’s anger did not subside even after leaving Nissan Stadium. Two days after the incident she took to Instagram and called WWE, writing in her caption“Hey @wwe if you guys can stop screwing me for having your golden girls on every big pvp [pay-per-view] That would be pretty cool.”
