According to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Kim Kardashian didn’t damage Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress! After reports emerged that the late actress’s iconic “Happy Birthday” gown was damaged when Kardashian wore it to the 2022 Met Gala, the museum “debunked” the claim.
In a statement Posted on its website, the museum notes that it can say “with confidence” that Kardashian did not “harm” the famous garment by wearing the dress.
“A report written on the condition of the dress in early 2017 said, ‘Many of the seams are pulled and worn. It’s not surprising how delicate the material is. The back is puckering from hooks and eyes,’ “Examples of other damages,” the statement reads.
The statement continues that, in the years since the report was written, the museum has “displayed the historic gown at its many attractions around the world.”
“The company understands the risks involved, but Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has been collecting remarkable pop-culture memorabilia, historic items and incredible artifacts for over 100 years,” the statement read. “Our mission is to entertain and educate visitors and fans, and sparking conversations like the ones surrounding Marilyn Monroe’s costume does just that. No matter which side you’re on, the historical significance of the costume should be appreciated.” Not denied, but rather highlighted.
