Richard Roat, the supporting actor who was in nothing less than Friends and also in Seinfeld, died

Richard Roat, an American actor best known for his supporting roles on numerous classic television series, has died at the age of 89.

His works include such popular titles as Friends, Seinfeld Y alpha. Roat’s family confirmed the news through an obituary published in the Los Angeles Times in which the cause of death is not specified, but it is reported that he died on August 5.

fans of Seinfeld Roat is remembered as one of the doctors who deemed Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) a “difficult patient” in the season eight episode called The Packagein 1998.

And in friends appeared as a fellow professor who berates Ross (David Schwimmer) for dating a female student in a 2000 episode called The One Where Ross Dates a Student.

According to his obituary, Roat had “more than 135 acting roles on television, film, and Broadway.” He also had “a successful practice as an entertainment industry tax preparer for more than 50 years,” the memorial says.

Roat is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Kathy.

Infinity of participations

Born in July 1933 in Hartford, the capital of the state of Connecticut, Richard Roat began as a voice actor for television series. In 1962 he rose to fame with his first regular role in The Doctorsan NBC series where he was for 170 episodes.

Throughout his career, he appeared in more than 135 different projects. Some of her most prominent roles were the ones she had in The Golden Girlslegendary series in which he appeared twice playing different characters, the best known being that of Betty White’s boyfriend who turns up dead in his bed the next morning.

Other works of notable importance were titles such as Dynasty, Charlie’s Angels, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Columbo, Cannon, Kojak Y hawaii 5.0.

He was in high demand during the ’80s and ’90s, appearing on hits like 7th Heaven, Cybill, The Practice, Ellen, Coach, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Murphy Brown, The Nanny, Melrose Place, Blossom, Grace Under Fire, Living Single, Mad About You, Lois & Clark, Night Court, Baywatch, Murphy’s Law, Simon & Simon, LA Law, Matlock Y alpha.

His last credit as an actor took place in 2009 in an episode of the series 24.

Roat also had roles in 1970s feature films like Westworld, American Hot Wax Y Corvette Summer. She also co-starred with Eva Gabor, Robert Hays and a young Jay Leno in the 1978 telefilm almost heaven.
