Lisa Hochstein knew it The real housewives of Miami wasn’t done forever when Bravo pulled the plug on the show after just three seasons in 2013.
“I had a clairvoyant I spoke to right after the last reunion aired or after we were told we were ‘canceled’ and the clairvoyant told me a lot of things, including the birth of my son,” shares Lisa ET in video chat with. “Nobody knew we were doing this secretly behind the scenes and she said the show was coming back. Not now, but maybe six or seven years later and she was right. I always had it in the background in my opinion that we would probably come back. “
“Lots of people ask for their number,” she quips the medium before admitting she didn’t fully believe the show will come back until they sign their contract.
“They threatened us with a comeback about two or three times in the last eight years and it never happened,” she admits. “I was a little skeptical. Every time we were asked back, I was definitely a little skeptical and said, ‘I’ll believe it when I see the contract and sign my life.’ Then it came true. today It is real.”
the RHOM Revival / Reboot debuted on Peacock last week, bringing Lisa and some of her mojito holding mates – Alexia Echevarria, Marysol Patton, Adriana de Moura, and Larsa Pippen holding champagne flutes) – like time had passed … kind of.
“It was nearly new again, ”says Lisa. “I had to make myself comfortable – look, I wasn’t on the air and had no cameras in my life to track me for so long. That it happened again was definitely like learning to ride a bike again. “
There was a lot of life in between, so the women and viewers play a bit of super-speed catch-up in these first episodes. After two seasons documenting her struggle to become a mother, Lisa and her husband, the plastic surgeon, Dr. Lenny Hochstein, two children: son Logan in 2015 and daughter Elle in 2019, both through surrogate motherhood. She and Lenny also started a new business venture, Hochstein Med Spa, and completed construction of their “dream home” on Star Island.
“I’m almost a little relieved that I had this break to do all of this because – it would have been great on TV – but really hard on my soul and my emotional whole,” recalls Lisa. “I’m glad I did everything and can show you and everything is complete. The kids, the house, the job, the medical spa, everything. “
There are also the not-so-beautiful parts of life that have developed along the way RHOM Cameras were down. Lisa and Lenny had a rough patch shortly after completing season three, a rash on the radar of their nearly 15-year relationship, which Lisa had to revisit in episodes 1 and 2.
“It was an absolutely closed wound, something I didn’t think I would ever need to repeat or talk about,” Lisa says of the “emotional affair” Lenny had during a brief period of separation. The pressure to get pregnant was too great for the couple, but eventually they found each other again and realized their dream of raising a family.
“Honestly, it wasn’t much,” she says, implying that the show made Lenny’s flirting with another woman bigger than she was. Lisa described the unknown person in the premiere episode as “$ 2 ho”.
“I should have explained myself better,” Lisa continues. “It was more about Lenny and me and not so much about another person. We went through our own troubles. We broke up and then whatever happened happened. We decided that we love each other so much, we want to be together. ”, We couldn’t be apart. The breakup lasted about a month and a half – it wasn’t long at all. It was just we couldn’t be apart. We can’t be apart, and when we were apart – and when I was ready to just say, ‘Bye, let me sign the papers. I’m not going to be there … ‘is not what we wanted, we wanted to try to have the family we always dreamed of and thank god we did because if we didn’t, we would have not us Logan and Elle. So thank god we didn’t give up. “
When the season 4 trailer released earlier this month, it strongly hinted at marital problems for the Hochsteins. Lisa says that surprised her.
“You know, like everyone else, I was shocked when we saw that we … [issues], ”She offers with a laugh. “I don’t have the feeling that we’re in trouble right now. … I have a great relationship with Lenny right now. We hit bumps and all of that, just like everyone else. We go through our ups and downs and there are days when, let’s say, I don’t want to like him, and there are days when I’m obsessed with him. I would like to say that we are currently very well positioned. That’s just life, that’s relationships. We’ve been together for 14 years and you can’t expect this time to be perfect. There will be some problems along the way. “
While Lisa says she and Lenny are great, she will watch the show and use it as a kind of mirror to learn things about herself and their relationships that she may have missed in the moment.
“I don’t like watching the episodes with anyone,” she admits. “I like to watch it alone because I have to digest what happens and what I see. We [the cast]”Obviously, getting the episodes a little bit before everyone else just so we can talk our way off the Sims a bit, but all in all I’m okay with what I’ve seen so far and I’m not appalled yet.”
“Yes” is the decisive word there. Lisa adds, “There will be some questionable moments with me that I’m not looking forward to.”
“There was a low point for me,” she teases. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I feel like I was having a little nervous breakdown that I couldn’t control. That was tough for me because I really like being in control of my emotions and this whole journey has got me too.” Obsolete at this point, so this won’t – or maybe it will – be fun for me to watch, I don’t know. “
Lisa is in a completely different place in life this time. When she first appeared on the show in 2012, she was in her late twenties, making her one of the youngest Real housewives Actor of all time.
“I couldn’t believe they cast me,” she reveals. “I thought you had to be in your thirties – at least! – to perhaps have a little more life experience and so that the age difference would not be as big or different. I realized that it doesn’t matter how old you are, it just matters how you interact with someone. Age is nothing more than a number, as they say, and it’s definitely true. “
Still, Lisa says: “I feel like [the show is] just better for me this time, “she noted, as more life experiences made her a better wife, mother, and friend. In the season three finale, Lisa described herself as the group’s” link “. Time has only got that title made is right for you.
“I’m probably the one who was always friends with everyone except a few people who aren’t on the show right now,” she says. Former stars Lea Black, Joanna Krupa, Karent Sierra and Ana Quincoces didn’t return for the revival, so viewers there can read between the lines.
“I stayed in touch with most women,” she affirmed. “They come to all of my parties. I have dinner with them and separately and maybe not all of them have been in contact, so I guess I’m still in some way connected. “
Lisa says the only ex-cast member was surprised to see him not Back was Lea, the quirky celebrity who held court as the central figure of the group during her original career.
“She’s still a good friend of mine, I love Lea,” enthuses Lisa. “I think it would have been a nice addition to the show, but the others didn’t surprise me.”
Lisa was pleasantly surprised to see Larsa come back, even though they never overlapped as castmates. Larsa left the show after just one season, while Lisa joined in the second year.
“I’ve known Larsa for 14 years,” explains Lisa. “She was more of an acquaintance. We were in the same social circles, I saw her at an event. Hi and goodbye, that was the extent. A year before the show we became friends.” and very good friends too. We have the same social circles. We like to do the same things. We like to go out, we have fun, we like to dress sexy. We are very similar in many ways. “
But with closeness there can be friction. The trailer shows a tense moment between the two when Larsa snaps at Lisa to “stay out like you always do”. Fans will have to wait and see what leads to it, but it appears to be Larsa’s reaction to a seasonal attack on her by some women. In the first two episodes alone, there were a number of reviews from the ladies about Larsa’s appearance, career choices, and dating life.
“I think Larsa would probably say that – I think she … said that I don’t speak enough for them, “says Lisa of the exchange.” But you know, not every fight is mine. Some people have to shred it themselves. I was in a lot of trouble for getting too involved in seasons two and three. I will make my post when I have it and when I have a real opinion on what is happening and if there is a fight I have to intercept, I will. “
“I just feel like this conversation … I had to get my point across and she was just trying to control what I was saying,” Larsa told ET. “I thought, ‘No, no. You always stay safe, so you stay safe. Just let me express and tell my feelings [the women] how I feel.'”
There’s still a lot of seasons to watch, which means there’s a lot more drama to unfold. Lisa says the audience should keep an eye out for women whose names begin with “A” and “M” as they are the ones who stir the pot the most. It’s more than likely that she is referring to the season’s “friends”, Adriana and Marysol.
“I think at the end of the day we are all top leaders,” she then adds as a qualifier. “I think we know we’re on a show. We all have a little – we all want a small saucepan to stir. A bunch of witches with a saucepan to stir. I think that’s the beast’s nature and that’s why we’re here. “
“Instead of mojitos … we should all hold brooms!” it cracks.
