“You might not think that I’ve had many hardships in my life—but I have. These last two years have been especially difficult for me. About a month ago, I had a mental breakdown. I found myself like that. I found myself in a situation where I was afraid of myself and my thoughts. And I finally decided to seek appropriate help. I also took a short break from social media. During this process of seeking help, I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, “She wrote.

“I made a personal choice to start the drug right away, because I really feel like I had tried everything else by that point,” she said. “I feel like I have been in denial about this diagnosis for too long. However, I was never properly educated about all the other aspects of being bipolar.”

She continued, “I used to use bipolar as a negative adjective to describe someone. I always thought it was just something related to mood swings. It’s too much, and in my life. A lot of things started to make sense. It was really a relief to finally have an explanation for a few things. It’s been empowering for me to learn more about it and take back control. I’m not ashamed of my diagnosis. And I I won’t let anyone try to make me feel ashamed for it. I won’t allow anyone to use my diagnosis as a scapegoat to treat me poorly.”

The makeup artist, who is mother to son Cameron, said her diagnosis is a “gift” and it has only made her stronger.

“I view bipolar disorder as the gift of extraordinary emotions. It has given me the resilience I so desperately needed growing up. It has enabled me to face the obstacles the universe throws at me. I I’m determined. It’s contributed to me being imaginative, empathetic, adaptive – and it’s certainly contributed to my great humor in some way. It’s another chapter in my life. I look forward to seeing that That’s where I will be a year from now. Life is a journey full of ups and downs. Move on. Be proud of yourself,” she wrote.
