Rapper Roddy Rich Arrested for Firearms Possession at NYC Governors Ball

Rapper Roddy Rich was not able to perform for the Governors Ball in NYC on Saturday after being arrested for criminal firearm possession.

The “The Box” rapper was taken into custody by law enforcement officers after security found a loaded firearm in his vehicle while entering Citi Field.

According to many reports, Roddy Rich, whose legal name is Roderick Moore, and two others in his vehicle were apprehended at 6:20 p.m. ET, according to the NYPD. The safety received not only the loaded firearm but nine rounds of ammunition, as well as a large-capacity magazine.

The rapper was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a large-capacity ammo feeding device, and unlawful possession of a large-capacity device. As of Sunday morning, Rich is still in police custody.

Due to his arrest, the Governors Ball posted a large statement on the festival’s stage stating that fans would not perform Rich and urging him to see other artists scheduled at the same time.

The statement read, “Unfortunately, this set is no longer happening. Check out these other cast members instead: Denzel Curry on the Bickery stage and Joji on the Gopuff stage.”

ET has reached out to a rep for the rapper for a comment.
