Peta Murgatroyd has started her first round of IVF treatment. dancing with the Stars The alum took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video where she gave herself the first of many injections from her and Maxim Chmerkovsky’s journey to baby No. 2.

The video begins with Peta fresh in a gray cropped long sleeve shirt and sweats, exposing his abdomen – the injection site. “So, here’s it, I’m in my bathroom on the first night that I’m going to have my IVF treatment,” Peta began. “I’m excited. I have two injections to do. I’m gonna keep it real with you guys.”

While PETA said she is “very used” to injections after receiving the peptide treatment, the dance pro did wince a bit over the size of the needles with which she had to inject herself.

“Well, the needle is definitely long and thick,” PETA said while inserting the injection pen into his belly. “Woo. Finito. I feel good. It’s done,” she said.

PETA also addressed the potential for weight gain as a result of her IVF treatment, something she said she accepted as part of the process.

“I was even told I would gain a little bit of weight with it,” PETA shared. “What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? You want a baby, then, that’s what I’m doing.” She continued, “Actually, luckily, my husband likes a little something extra, like, cushions for pushin’ you know what I’m saying, so it’s okay.”

For the second shot, PETA mixed some liquid before attaching the needle head to the syringe. After some confusion, she succeeded again.

“Success,” Peta shouted before dancing a bit. While PETA acknowledged that there are no guarantees with IVF, it said it has been the most euphoric in a “very long time”.

“It’s done! Guys, I know there’s no promise, I know it’s a risk, a gamble, we don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think that’s what I’m most excited about.” I’ve been doing it for too long. I just pray these drugs don’t drive me crazy,” she noted before promising to share the update with fans in the morning.

In the caption, PETA thanked her fans for coming on this journey with her, and urged people to “normalize the conversation” around abortion and IVF.

“It is really very special and incredible to take you guys on this journey with me for my first night of IVF treatment 🙏🏻 baby number 2. I love sharing stuff with you all, and well…. This is me being as transparent as possible,” PETA wrote. “Let’s normalize the conversation around abortion and IVF and create an environment that is more comfortable for all women ️.”

He also thanked his doctor for making this procedure possible, “Thanks @drmarksurrey @scrcivf for making this possible for my family XO.”

PETA’s first IVF treatment comes just a day after she and Maxim revealed that Peta miscarried while Maxim was in Ukraine. The dancer was taken to the hospital amid the COVID-19 fight when she learned that she was pregnant.

“I had no strength. I couldn’t open the dishwasher. I couldn’t open the fridge to feed Shai, get her some toast,” Peta, who has had three miscarriages, told People, noting that she called 911 while the couple’s 5-year-old son, Shai, was watching. “It got so bad that my breathing was starting to take a toll. It was really dramatic.”

At the hospital, Peta called Maksim so she could hear what the doctor had to say, which eventually – they didn’t know – she was pregnant, but had already lost the baby. “She heard the doctor say, ‘You’re pregnant,'” she recalls, adding that her husband began to celebrate after not hearing the bad news.

“After all I didn’t know [I was pregnant]’I’m pregnant again!’ That was not a super happy moment! PETA explains. “I just had the moment, ‘You lost it.'”

PETA contracted COVID while visiting Maxim in Ukraine hoping to conceive a child. “I was like, ‘Screw it. I’m going to fly to you in Ukraine. I’m ovulating soon. Let’s do it,'” she says.

However, when she returned home, her body could not handle what was happening. “I felt like I was dying, but then I clearly knew what had happened,” she shares. “It was all too much for my body and I couldn’t believe it was happening to me.”

Maksim – who was in Ukraine for work – said he felt “helpless” as it was all unfolding.

While this sadly wasn’t the first time the couple suffered a miscarriage, with PETA suffering a pregnancy loss in both 2020 and 2021, the pair remains positive while actively raising Shai as a brother. Working towards giving

“For the first time in nearly two years, I’m feeling excited. I’m in a very happy place. I’ve got the answer,” PETA told the outlet.
